Hello future students! My name is Niki and I teach Greek as a native qualified teacher with masters in Educational Psychology and in Educational Technology. I also have one year specialization on "Teaching Greek as a second language" and soon I am going to be a PhD candidate! More than 10 years I have been teaching the Greek language to people from countries all over the world, of all ages (from children to adults) and of all levels (from beginners to advanced). In the lesson we work on everything: 1) speaking + pronunciation (the most important of course), including local expressions that only natives know and etymology of words, so you can understand their "origin" 2) listening and understanding the others when they speak 3) right grammar and syntax 4) reading and writing Depending on your own goals we can emphasize to a field more than the others, to move faster or slower, to do homework or not, as my lesson is individually based on each one's potentials and necessities! Our goals will be succeeded through role games and real dialogues of everyday life, like going to a hotel, to a restaurant, to the airport etc, speaking with friends or relatives, or even speaking with customers and colleagues for business. You have to repeat after me many times, so we achieve accurate pronunciation. Our goal is for you to sound like a native speaker, not like a person from abroad speaking some Greek! Learning a new language is a challenge, it's not always easy, so I am not going to give that fake promise. What I can however guarantee is that we are together in this, in easy and hard steps and I will make the hard ones as easy as possible in an entertaining way! It is a part of learning how to communicate efficiently! Most of the time, "attractive" material motivates the students to ask by themselves: "Why does this word have this form in this sentence but had that form in the previous sentence?". In conclusion, grammar is a part of using the language in the right way, not isolated strict rules. The experience of using the language brings this knowledge naturally and then it can be analyzed at the appropriate level.
